Enclosed by a winding loop of the River Coquet just one mile from its mouth (see Video of River Coquet, see Stork on far bank at start below), Warkworth offers excellent river and sea fishing, as well as miles of golden sandy beach backed by extensive dunes.

Warkworth castle overlooks the town and is one of the most splendid ruins of its type in Northumberland, unspoilt by later day restorations. Originally built in 1139 it was much extended in the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries and much of its structure remains today.
A short walk from the castle and across the river is the Warkworth Hermitage. Carved out of rock, this tiny 14th Century chapel contains the remains of the hermit’s house, chapel, confessional and dormitory.

Access to the village was originally solely through an impressive narrow medieval bridge, though now this fourteenth century bridge is only for use by pedestrians.

Warkworth Golf Club is a traditional links course set on the picturesque Northumberland Coast with awesome views from every angle.
Founded in 1891 and designed by Old Tom Morris, this par 70 course is well known throughout the North East for having the best greens and being open all year due to the tremendous natural drainage. We attract far travelling visitors as well as local golfers who return year after year.
This challenging 9 hole course, with 18 different tee boxes, is renowned for not only the overall quality of the course but its monstrous 15th hole, a 246 yard par three, the first hole, a daunting 217 yard par three, both with rough to the left and out of bounds to the right!!
